Artist Statement

In life we experience so much fragmentation of thought and feelings, Creating Art brings it all back together. It is incredibly powerful for me, that keeps me going. I make Art primarily because I enjoy the process. It’s fun making things..
Creating Wood Art from one of earth natural beauties is pure joy. Wood is an imperfect medium, I create my art retaining the natural cracks, knots, bark inclusions, and imperfection. These are reminders of the rugged nature, endurance, and resilience of trees. The thoughts of using a living breathing medium and transforming it into Wood Art is truly magical.
I am always searching for new ideas and forms, constantly drawn to pleasing lines and shapes, calming and peaceful curves in nature. The grain and imperfection determines its form and shape. Though I feel no one can improve on nature’s perfect creation. My craft has developed and evolved over the years, embellishing each piece. When I finish a piece it fills me with a sense of accomplishment and sense of purpose perhaps that’s what it is really all about.
Every item is handmade and I turn a variety of items, My craft requires time and effort to create. It is not my goal to create in volume, I simply want to release treasures that you will be proud to display in your home or give as a gift. I don’t really like to take orders for custom work. If you see something on my web site, my social media or Etsy and you would like to have one similar, let me know. If I have something on hand or have the wood that might work, we can work something out. I will not take a deposit and you will not receive a promise. I’ll try to make the item and give you first chance. If you don’t want it, I will simply add it to my stock and we will remain friends.
The simple things in life are often the most important. My turnings speak of my passions, while at the same time allowing the user to recognize the important things in their own lives…
