The Spirit of My Wood Art
Art as Wholeness
In life we experience so much fragmentation of thought and feeling. Creating art brings it all back together. For me, it is incredibly powerful force that keeps me going. I make art primarily because I enjoy the process. It’s fun making things.
Joy in Wood
Creating wood art from one of earth’s natural beauties is pure joy. Wood is an imperfect medium, and I embrace those imperfections the cracks, knots, bark inclusions, and irregularities. They are reminders of the rugged nature, endurance, and resilience of trees. To take a living, breathing medium and transform it into art truly feels magical.
Inspiration in Nature
I am always searching for new ideas and forms, drawn to pleasing lines and shapes, calming and peaceful curves found in nature. The grain and imperfection of each piece determine its form and shape. No one can improve on nature’s perfect creation, but my craft has evolved over the years, embellishing each piece with care. Finishing a piece fills me with accomplishment and purpose perhaps that is what it’s really all about.
Handmade Treasures
Every item I create is handmade, turned with care and patience. My craft requires time and effort, and it is never my goal to produce in volume. Instead, I release treasures meant to be proudly displayed in your home or given as a gift.
The Value of Simplicity
The simple things in life are often the most important. My turnings speak of my passions, while at the same time inviting you to recognize the meaningful things in your own life. Each piece carries with it not only the warmth and beauty of wood, but also a reminder of the quiet joy found in simplicity.
